This is more important than seat belts. Accidents are few, heat is common.REPORT COMMENTS

As a bus driver, not having AC is unfair to drivers AND students. Law makers should be forced to sit in buses for a hot summer week and experience what we do!REPORT COMMENTS

Here in San Diego, we've had to cut school day short due to heat. As a bus driver I am in the bus eight hours a day and have experience nausea, sweating profusely and extreme discomfort being out in the heat for many many hours of relief. I transport special education children. There are many medically fragile children transported to and from school as well. Air-conditioning is a luxury the district supposedly cannot afford. However, they do have the funding to put air conditioners and all the classrooms. No new buses should be purchased without an air conditioning unit. This is for driver and passenger safety.REPORT COMMENTS

Air conditioning should be required on buses. When there are 84 passengers (bus capacity) on board not only the weather but body heat adds to the temperature inside the bus. Also, heat can make people drowsy and air conditioning would help maintain the driver alert.REPORT COMMENTS
