My son is currently serving @ Fort Bliss as an Apache mechanic planning on putting in his Pilot package. I see now that his only option is to do it in service because you don't take care of your own it seems after they leave. And I'm from a 3 generation military family. This is getting harder and harder to validate from this government.

this bill is horrible to Veterans want to pursue a career as a professional pilot, as I am trying to do at Yavapai College in Arizona! Representative Brad Wenstrup of Ohio is the sponsor of this bill and it actually takes education benefits and puts that money toward higher VA mortgages which we don't need. If I had a higher paying job as a commercial pilot I could afford a larger mortgage! Taking away education benefits from veterans is dead wrong!

I'm a recently retired Airman, and I've been purusing Professional Flight training for a couple of years now. Several permanent station changes and lack of training facilities has made it nearly impossible up to this point, to complete training. Now that I've settled in an area with VA approved training facilities, I've been able to continue this training using my VA benefits. My goal was to become a professional helicopter pilot working for a public safety agency like mountain rescue, forestry services, or border patrol. I worked on helicopters as an avionics maintainer, and knew at an early age I wanted to fly helicopters professionally. Due to high operational costs, helicopter (and even fixed wing) training is only possible by using my VA funding. Many training facilities wouldn't be open without VA funded students. And since they offer entry level jobs for graduating students, this Bill wouldn not only eliminate a huge population of students...but would also eliminate many job opportunities for many pilots who are not prior VA students. This would have not only a huge impact on my ability to find a stable post-service career, but would have a monumentally negative impact on the many schools and instructors employed by those schools. What about other high cost schools that are VA approved? Are medical programs being cut as well?

Getting Involuntary seperated from the army due to closure and restructuring of units in germany. I am planning on taking flight training once I return home so I can get a job with humanitarian aid aviation companies. Getting honorably discharged early allows me to go to school, but this bill will stop that dead in its tracks!

I am a Marine Corps veteran currently attending Southern Utah University. I enrolled to pursue the helicopter pilot degree program but I am still awaiting authorization to enter the program due to the hold placed on veterans by this bill. Not only am I not able to fly currently but if this bill passes I won't be able to afford to do so without taking on student loan debt. I urge you to reconsider the effect this bill will have on the few veterans pursuing this line of work. Take into consideration how many veterans are actually utilizing their education benefits compared to those that have earned them. Now consider this, the congressmen and senators who hold seats in office only have to serve a 2 year term and receive a life time pension of $250,000 a year for the rest of their lives. Who is really a burden on the tax payers at this point?

Please don't take the benefits away that we put our lives on the line for. We don't make enough while in, and our brothers and sisters in arms have died because they believed the system was worth it.

Don't let a couple of bad flight schools that abuse the system be the down fall of so many peoples dreams. There are many flight schools out there that kept the training cost at a minimum and still give quality training and education for future pilots.
