Governor keeps complain that there isn't any revenue. President complaining there isn't any revenue. Everybody complaining that we don't have many viable renewable energy options. Me complaining about feeling like a/being a criminal, just because I choose to use a natural plant. Legalize it a reap the benefits!!

I was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident approximately 10 years ago and have been on strong opioid painkillers since that time. A few months ago I had a Dr. try me on Marinol in hopes I could reduce medications like Morphine and Hydrocodone. I was excited, as within the first two weeks I was living with less pain, sleeping better and suffering less depression. The hope was almost immediately snuffed out as another Dr. at the practice took over my care and refused to continue treatment with the Marinol(THC). I guess the doctors want the easy way out and don't want to be subjected to the scrutiny of DEA or laws preventing them from prescribing pain medications to anyone with an illicit drug(marijuana) in their system. I cant believe that as a moral or advanced society(or so we think) we can lawfully prevent an individual from the freedom to treat their pain with the safest, most benign medicine known to man...... BUT we can feed them full of potentially deadly RX opiates. How can marijuana continue to be classified as a schedule I narcotic when there is mounds of evidence that support it DOES have medicinal and therapeutic properties.....? It cant work both ways!!! Schedule I means there are no medicinal or therapeutic properties. HOWEVER, pharmaceutical companies can produce Marinol which is an exact synthetic copy of the naturally occurring THC found in marijuana and sell it for $850.00 per ONE month supply.... I don't get it! IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE. It is a win/win from all angles. Put the dealers out of business, assure product quality, quit funding drug cartels, extra funding for state/local needs via taxes and help eliminate the distrust that results from being misguided and misinformed by an untrustworthy and unsympathetic government and lawmakers.

Dear Senator Leeper: According to recent studies, Kentucky has the 3rd highest death rate in the nation from prescription drug overdose. Kentucky?s own Attorney General, Jack Conway, is always looking for ways to lower prescription drug abuse and overdose?well, you cannot overdose from cannabis. There has never been a documented death from cannabis overdose in recorded history. Cannabis can replace many prescription drugs without the harmful side effects. It can also be used to lower the dosage of the prescription drug needed to get the same results when used in conjunction with it. It seems our legislators are more afraid that some people may use medical cannabis for other than medicinal purposes. Well, I assure you that there are people out there using pharmaceutical medications for purposes other than medicinal use. And I can also assure you that cannabis is much less harmful and addictive than prescription drugs. In the past, politicians have seen the support of cannabis to be political suicide. There are currently 21 states and Washington D.C. that allow medical cannabis for their citizens, with New York slated to be the 22nd, by an executive order from Governor Cuomo. Now, it seems that opposition to medical cannabis is political suicide. ?We The People? want senators and representatives that have our best interest at heart, not politicians that do their own bidding. I can?t imagine being in the position of a lawmaker and choosing not to allow a safer option that has no chance of causing an overdose death. I encourage you to support the Cannabis Compassion Act (SB 43) and ask that you encourage the Licensing, Occupations, & Administrative Regulations (S) Committee to push the bill to the Senate floor for a yes vote. Respectfully, Andrew Hinkle 143 Northridge Drive Gilbertsville, KY 42044 270-703-6553 andyhinkle@aol.com

People need to be educated on the drug and read studies that show proof of All the health benefits marijuana provides.
