I recently got my PhD from a very good European university. Good companies sponsor people like me because we are better than others. If you do not want to cancel this lottery, please at least consider those who are eligible for the Green card lottery (because of their citizenship). And then you can reduce the number of Green card lottery acceptance for those countries.REPORT COMMENTS

I feel it is not a justification to anyone. I understand and obey the rules of Immigration department. But at the same time, I feel bad for my fellow petitioners and companies sponsoring them. They are sponsoring the candidates because they feel them as their good assets and with this lottery system, some companies have to go through a huge transition (when petition was not picked through lottery) which will most of the time turn into jeopardy. I believe, government should have a look into this seriously to come up with a better idea and they should understand the after effects of Brain Drain from USA. Sri.REPORT COMMENTS

This is just tragic. Even though, I received my H1B last year , I feel so much for my colleagues who are stuck in H1B lottery this year. This is not fair for anyone. Most of us have struggled very hard to reach this stage. Also, lottery system will harm many. Highly qualified candidates would not get visa, Companies will loose talent pool, new students will stop coming to US as they would not want a lottery to decide their future , which in turn would harm the education system in US.REPORT COMMENTS

The lottery system seems very unjust for people that have been here for over 8 years working very hard. Moreover, I have both my masters and bachelors degree from the US. Having a computer decide whether I have to leave after giving so much time and effort to this country is just ridiculous.REPORT COMMENTS
