Fathers are just as important as mothers and deserve the same rights. A father shouldn't have to prove he deserves time with his own child. A mother doesn't. It's discriminatory to assume one parent is better qualified because of sex. -

I was a victim of parental alienation by my mother, while my father suffered for many years till we were well into our 20s. Today as a 38 year old father, am experiencing no different, if not, worse by my ex wife. The detrimental effects of parental alienation ARE REAL. To see extensions of ourselves hurt and voided from their other half is a crime that has life Long effects. The perpetrators are criminals. Currently on a court ordered Alienation/Reunification. Parental Alienation prevention should get attention as it seems to be rampant and shows no signs of changing. It's true that unless you've lived it, it's a really hard concept to buy into. It's difficult to spot on the outside because the alienating parent is usually wearing a "Mother/Father of the Year" mask, going out of their way to promote themselves. It frustrating and nauseating when you are subjected to the evil behind the mask and see how transparent it is. And how the child thinks they're a victim of having a bad parent when in reality, it's the bad parent they're putting all of their trust into. I am the stepmother of a sixteen year old girl whose mother has done horrific things to my husband and I over this alienation over the pat two years. It's likely to be one of the most severe cases in history and she is so far gone that she can't even speak to us or see us. I would imagine that she feels, in her deep subconscious, much shame for putting us through this because she suddenly decided that she felt uncomfortable living at our house. In hindsight, I now clearly see the systematic programming that took place over two years, but until my stepdaughter abruptly left, had no clue what was had really been happening. It's far too late for intervention and everyone that became involved drank the koolaid and now she is much worse off in every aspect of her life; grades tanking, promiscuity, drinking, drugs and cutting. Just three years ago, she was a cheerful sports phenom who took naturally to anything she tried and had an extremely bright future ahead of her. Now....it's tragic, she's done a 360 degree turn in the opposite direction. Her mother recently got arrested for letting minors drink in her house. It's been so painful to witness, yet if legislation existed that recognized this, we could easily demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that this is a severe case of mother/daughter enmeshment and parental alienation and qualifies as child abuse. How many children must suffer before reform takes place? Sadly most ignore this topic when it isn't personal for them. I've seen the destruction of parental Alienation. It destroys the lives of many, not just the child(ren) & alienated parent. I pray reform comes soon.REPORT COMMENTS

I genuinely hope this will help others! Although my daughter is turning 18 today, her and i have struggled with this very issue for 13 years. It has had a profound negative impact on not only my daughter and I but all other family members involved from grandparents, aunt's, uncle's, and the other siblings. Lawyers need to stop dragging out cases,using protracted litigation and financially destroying targeted parents for their own financial gain. These type of abusive divorces do not belong in a regular family court, but in a criminal court. Lawyers and judges are enabling, empowering and creating more destruction of the family and financial destruction, especially of the targeted parent.
