DST is by now an antiquated practice that should come to an end- while DST was first implemented in Germany during WWI as a means to save on fuel usage and costs, multiple studies have shown that in the modern era, our patterns of electrical usage actually cause more money to be spent on energy during the months of the year that we set our clocks ahead. On another note, other studies have been done on the rise of traffic accidents following the spring ahead- finding that traffic fatalities rose anywhere from 10 to 20%. By now, keeping DST around is little more than a bad habit which we need to re-examine and break. Please, let's end this wasteful and dangerous practice.REPORT COMMENTS

With regard to Daylight Saving, the annual change is no longer necessary. Our kids are no longer walking to school in the dark, 99.9% of kids actually receive a ride to school from either their parents or their friends. Look at our neighbor state Arizona. They do not change their times and they have had no issues. Please stop torturing us with this change, it affects production as we have to adjust with the time!REPORT COMMENTS

I do not like DST! I feel I have to stay up much longer because it is still light outside. My medication schedule gets off track and I have to adjust gradually in order not to feel the effects. I do not save on my electric bill and I have to adjust any business phone calls or online transactions according to different time zones. I have never liked this change and each year it seems it comes around sooner and leave later!!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE PROPOSED TIME ZONES IN PLACE.REPORT COMMENTS

There is absolutely NO BENEFIT in people losing an hour of sleep and children going to school in the dark. Without daylight savings time, daylight is present in the morning as people are up an hour later, but are starting their day earlier as the time is not moved ahead. Individuals are better rested, less stressed, and refreshed as daylight is present. Still, nightfall comes at a time that is appropriate after 8p. With daylight savings time, we get up earlier and go to bed later.....So REALLY? WHY at a time when people are more health conscience, and stress is on the rise, would anyone advocate less rest? Only if this will keep summer hours and it won't from what I have read. It's not fair to people who work not to be able to do anything outside during the week. Daylight Savings Time in Michigan is NOT a "good thing." Michigan is so far north on the map, as well as on the edge of the Eastern Time Zone, that it makes for the sun not setting until just about 10 P.M. for crying out loud! Who is the fool who recently decided to extend the DST start and stop dates? I feel this was done as a favor to some buddies who want to have more hours to golf or something. How are parents supposed to get their kids to bed at a decent hour so as to not mess up one's sleeping pattern. WE NEED MORE SLEEP -- NOT LESS! Isn't that what everyone complains about, as well as all the ads on TV about sleep problems and products? People buy blackout curtains because it is so light out so late. I strongly am against changing the time back and forth from standard to daylight savings time. There is no need for it at all. We need to stay on standard time. The only thing daylight savings time seems to accomplish is messing with people's sleep patterns, and puts many of our children back into going to school while it's still dark.
