The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc. We The People, now demand that Congress do what is right for this country and not for their own self interests, they are our servants in the government not we their servantsREPORT COMMENTS

Once upon a time, serving as an elected representative was called "public service". You can agree or disagree with their politics, but Bill Bradley, Michael Bloomberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger (to pick 3 at random) are excellent examples. Public office should not be a magic carpet to wealth and influence, nor should the American public tolerate the double standard. I don't know which party is sponsoring this bill (and I have purposely not looked to see), but let's see the newly elected Republican House of Representatives start off by passing a responsible bill like this one.REPORT COMMENTS

I think term limits should be implemented, as stated serving in the government is an honor not a career!REPORT COMMENTS

I definitely agree with the health care, salary and retirement part of this petition! It is time that we cut off the free ride for public servants.REPORT COMMENTS

Regarding number 8, I do not think it is important that prior committments to current Congressmen are upheld - but should be effective for future members of Congress I like TERM LIMITS a lot and health care and retirement changes seem reasonable, but not nearly as important as TERM LIMITSREPORT COMMENTS

It's time Congress worked for The People not The People working for the Congress. After the adoption of this act then the next priority is Tax Reform-Adopt HR-25 The FairTax. Eliminate the IRS, everyone takes home 100% of their paycheck. Taxes are paid when we spend money not when we earn money.REPORT COMMENTS

This is needed now. This suggested act has been circulating as email for quite some time. I've received it in my inbox numerous times already. It is time to take it seriously because this is what the American people want!REPORT COMMENTS
