If I lose my insurance I lose my life and even with insurance my co-pays are so expensive that I don't go anywhere or do anything, not even long drives. I can't afford to keep my continuous glucose monitor in supplies so I don't use it anymore. When I go to the pharmacy to pick up insulin it is always stated, "You know this is really expensive even with your insurance." My response, "Without it I will die." My student loans have gone into default and I am doing my best to stay on my feet. Conversations with my student loan servicer includes me telling them that I can pay you if I don't get my insulin, but if I don't get my insulin I won't be able to pay you for long because I will die. If I don't pay my student loans and they garnish my check I can lose my job and therefore lose my life. It is a catch 22 and all roads lead to death if I can not afford my insulin.Dec 5th, 2016Jessica A. from Rego Park, NY signed.

SHAME ON YOU! Yes you. You know who you are. I don't , too bad for me down here on earth in reality with a Grandaughter who suffers with this disease. Well, come on over to my house and I will tell you all about it. How her Mom and Dad work and work and still cannot afford to get her meds along with millions of others simply because you are greedy. Do you people in the wealthy clouds above us have a heart at all? How bout firing the gardener and LOWER the cost. Be a true American and HELP those in need, stop hurting them! That is the true American way. You know you can't take it with you my friends, the money, but sadly, on your death bed you will take the pain, the shame, the remorse and regret for what you are doing now right along with you. It's not too late to change that and you can do it. You are messing with my baby and hers and I cannot stand it. There is a strong movement of people out here just like me, young and old and they are on the war path, just to let you know. They will go legally through their congressmen, senators and up to fight to lower these outrageous prices to keep the millions of CHILDREN alive! I will back them up. Sorry if this language is strong but it is the truth May God bless America and the children...and even you. They are innocent. Now where do I sign?REPORT COMMENTS

We are dying out here. Dying from Type 1 and dying financially from the high price of medicine that WE HAVE TO HAVE TO LIVE!REPORT COMMENTS

As a Type 1 coming up on the 20th anniversary of her diagnosis, I can say that I've made all sorts of sacrifices, cut corners, made dangerous decisions to make my insulin last. My parents worked hard when I was growing up to make sure I have everything I needed. I've gone as far as taking smaller doses than I needed at the time to stretch my insulin (resulting in horrible high sugars) to not eating for a day or two to stretch it out. I'm a teacher with a decent income, but it's so expensive and if I struggle, I know that there are others who have it way worse. It's also getting harder as I get older and the damage from the diabetes really starts manifesting itself. More doctors and medicines means even more money. I'm only 28 and I know for a fact that it would save my husband so much money if I was just dead. No one should have to feel that way.REPORT COMMENTS
