Border Patrol Agents are accustomed to sacrificing for their country often with little or no thanks. They are often forced to live in remote border communities with few amenities. They work long hours in the harshest terrains and conditions imaginable. It is a routine event for Border Patrol Agents to be assaulted in the line of duty only to find that prosecution of the aggressor is declined. To ask these agents and their families to give up 40% of their incomes, an amount far greater than any other group of federal employees, is an egregious assault in and of itself. If these cuts are allowed to happen those responsible should be held accountable for the damage that will be done to these families (bankruptcies, foreclosures etc.) as well as the risk that will result as the security level along the border deteriorates. Regardless of how long sequestration drags out I call on Congress to take steps to ensure that Border Patrol Agents and their important national security mission are not singled out to make up for budget shortfalls, and that sensible cuts are instead identified that will not negatively impact national security. To implement these cuts, or to stand by and allow these to happen will be a gross negligence that I would consider an act of misfeasance. Border Patrol Agents are fulfilling their obligations to this nation, now it is time to fulfill your obligations to them.

This is a travesty. Our agents are taking a huge pay cut and the money needed to fund them is going to Egypt/Syria. Where is National Security on the priority list?

Please reconsider this irrational cut in the Border Patrol Agents pay. It will definitely have a major impact in the national security, thus making us more vulnerable to foreign attacks and an increment in crimes among our citizens.
