Please, for the love of God, make this bill retroactive. There are decent people wasting their lives away, and families torn apart over drugs. It doesn't seem right to change the mandatory minimums, but not to apply it to those who have been wrongfully sentenced already. Please consider this, thank you so much for your time.

I truely thank you all for voting yes for S 1789. This is a change that was long over due. I am asking that you do the same to make this law retroactive. It's only right, considering the FACT that the people who are serving these unjust sentences are the main reason why WE felt the need to make the change to the guidelines in the first place. Alot of them are serving 20, 30 and 40 year sentances. When do we say 'Enough is enough'. Give them another chance at life. We have children that NEED there Fathers and Mothers. We have Mothers that pray that they get to live to see the day that there children are free. Every one deserves a second chance. Please give them that second chance. Thanks!

Although I do not have a family member currently incarcerated. I feel as a citizen of this country that laws and subsequent sentencing must be FAIR! Due to this fervent belief, I feel that those individuals who are currently incarcerated due to unfair sentencing should be afforded the opportunity of having their sentences reflect the current law by making this law retroactive. As an individual who works within the foster care system, I see the effects of losing a parent due to incarceration. Making this law retroactive, will bring home not only mothers and fathers, but also grandparents. Many of the children who were effected by these laws nearly twenty years ago now have children of their own and should be given the chance to have their families reunified!

Please, please end the archaic, brutal laws of mandatory minimums in all drug cases and make them retroactive. These laws are clearly not working and robbing families of loved ones.

My brother got what I consider to be a raw deal! "All research and successful drug policy shows that treatment should be increased, and law enforcement decreased while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences!" 24 years old when he went in, has 3 young sons, and he will be gone until he is 50 because of mandatory minimums! His kids could use his guidance first hand, to ensure that they don't follow in his foot steps! Get him home, and any other non violent drug offenders! Teach them that there are other ways, and provide opportunity for them to be productive facets of this society!

I feel that if this sentence has been research since the 90 and has been found to be unfair & unjust then it should benefit the people who is already in the prison system serving these long sentence.
