Many Hispanic land grant heirs believe that their rights have been violated because there has not been a sufficiently vigorous adherence to the tenets and spirit of the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The land losses occurred from 1917-1950 as a result discriminatory legislation with regard to Partition Law. Further, land grant owners civil rights were violated by non-hispanics that occurred in the form of fraud, intimidation, false accusations, duress, deceptive foreclosures by banks, etc. The economic inequalities that exist today is a direct result of Texas? failure to protect the South Texas land owners against discriminatory legislation. Texas had a fiduciary duty to protect land grant heirs from unfair legislation and the bias tactics used by non hispanics as described above. Further there is a present ?URGENCY? for The Texas Legislature to Pass this All-Important Reparation Law.

This really has been dragged on for many, many years. I believe we as heirs should get what is rightfully ours.

Texas has to make up for all the injustices that were done and are still continuing, whether it was at fault to some degree or not. Where there is money, there will always be 'greed', with crooked people in control. We have come this far where we can finally now unite and fight, and I truly believe God has opened these doors....this is where the buck stops! If Texas doesn't come forth with this one, they really will have to contend with our outcry, cause we WILL be heard, and the world will finally know what really has been going on behind closed doors! We are strong now and we have a voice! Our ancestors didn't have to go through so much suffering and injustice; now we have to consider our future generations! I love Texas, and now our eyes are on you; don't let us down!
