As a veteran officer of these United States Armed Forces, I took an oath to defend the constitution and its very principles and foundations. As I remember my training in diplomatic affairs, this oath extends to any treaties and agreements made by the U.S. This news that the State of Texas had imposed unconstitutional laws in an attempt to override such an agreement makes my heart heavy. My family has worked to correct these atrocities for as long as I can remember. I am currently 33 years of age, and most of my family, including myself, have struggled to get by in these times while holding on to hope that one day we can reclaim what was bestowed on us. While I will not deny that I have personal interests in this case, above all I plead with our nation's leaders to correct this grave injustice against all U.S. citizens descended from these Texas land grant recipients.

As a descendant of several land grants in South Texas I have personally experienced the injustices brought upon our ancestors. It has been a continuous fight to survive and keep our properties, we're in everyone's way of progress, including the government's enforcement of eminent domain. This Government and Congress have the power to amend all the injustices by implementing the 1942 Settlement of Claims Act between the U.S. and Mexico. Under the conventions of 1923 and 1934 our grants were registered before the General Claims Commission with a number, the name of the grantee, and the value of the property at that time. It is written: CLAIMENT DEPRIVED OF PROPERTY BY THE AUTHORITIES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, then it names the grant and it's value. When the territory in which said lands were located passed to the sovereignty of the United States of America, the rights of said grantees and heirs, all natural born citizens of the United Mexican States, were duly respected, except from trespass, until the year 1870, when the State of Texas as a State of the United States of America, then and thereafter assumed to enact certain laws to wit; The Act of August 15, 1870, entitled " AN ACT TO ASCERTAIN AND ADJUDICATE CERTAIN CLAIMS FOR LAND AGAINST THE STATE SITUATED BETWEEN THE NUECES AND RIO GRANDE RIVERS" and other acts, thereby and by other means depriving said heirs of rights to their lands, or the right to enter thereon, all in violation of the laws of the United States of America, international law and guarantees provided by the TREATY OF GUADALUPE HIDALGO, between Mexico and the United States, of 1848; and the claimant having thus been deprived of property, as herein described, without due process of law, and without just compensation, hereby make this claim against the United States of America for the restoration to claimant, the legitmate owner of said lands, or for payment of value, to wit in U.S. currency, plus interest. When the settlement was approved by Congress and the settlements were paid , or exchanged, Mexico nor the U.S. looked for the heirs. About 200 heirs send letters to the Department of State, and all recieved the same answer; MEMORANDUM BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE REGARDING SO-CALLED TEXAS LAND CLAIMS. The anwser; the U.S. governmesnt send a commission to thoroughly investigate the examination of records of the State of Texas, records of county courts, etc. pleadings, evidence, and briefs; and this government concluded that every character of each claim had no merit. The U.S. claimed Mexico and the U.S. had renounced, and cancelled their claims against each other and it's character became an internal/domestic Mexican debt. The U.S. claims that if proven the lands were stolen and that Texas was liable, it was relieved of damages because of the exchange. Our ancestors continued their pleads, and the U.S. respond is; there is no evidence that Mexico has taken any legal action, or wants to compensate the American grantee descendants of our Mexican national ancestors for their property losses. That under international law the U.S. can not force another sovereign to comply, unless the grantee can prove and has resided on their property to date. The U.S. claims that it has not been established, or have proven, that we are the legal successors, or descendants of the Mexican owners of the Spanish/Mexican land grants. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO PROVE BY LINEAGE THAT WE ARE. THIS IS A GROSS VIOLATION OF OUR CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS AS AMERICAN CITIZENS, AND BOTH NATIONS ARE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED NATIONS.

It is time for our goverment to help us. we have been ripped off by lawyers, fake geneologist, and hindered by the Texas court system fighting for what are forefathers lost. For years now families from all over the United States connected to these Land Grants have searched for proof to their lineage as requested by the courts of Texas years ago and it has costs millions of dollars in research and millions of hours of time to prove our lineage. Only a few families have recieved justice and the rest of us have been left out. We are thousands, not just one person. Many of the thousands throughout the United States maybe we have gotten to a million descendents by now. We have tried for years, now we need your help.

What has happened and continues to happen to Mexican Tejano Land Grant Heirs is a travesty. Failure to give appropriate compensation is very similar to what happened to the indigenous peoples of this continent, false promises, false treaties and false contracts. Documents signed, but signed in bad faith, with no intent to ever live up to the letter of the law signed. Plain outright thievery! If appropriate royalties and remunerations are not made to Tejano Land Grant Heirs, Manifest Destiny has truly completed its course.

Many promises, many broken treaties, many lies, They took advantage because we could not read, write, nor speak their languages. They took advantage of our elders, and took what was God given to them. Now we stand together for a common cause as brothers and sisters all related for a common goal.

My ancestors were American when laws were imposed by Texas lawmakers that resulted in their loss of land. Laws such as adverse possession, foreclosure, illegal sales, and other such laws were in violation of their Civil Rights. The United States Government failed to protect our property and continues to this day to allow this travesty of justice.
