    There is no way to be sure that horse meat does not have toxic drugs in it and is safe for human consumption. Also the slaughter process is totally inhumane, no matter which country is doing it.

    The value of the horse to society is as a working partner, teacher, therapist, companion or source of recreational pleasure. They are a boost to the local economy, promote open spaces/agriculture and provide employment opportunities. They were never raised or intended to be a food source in America.
