There has been many instances of killing family pets mistakenly by police officers that are overly cautious and scared of dogs. Most dogs will stop about five feet from a threatening person if they are warning them while protecting their person or yard as a good dog should do. It is a dog's instinct to protect just like a policeman. Police Officers that are afraid of dogs can not serve and protect in a safe manner, and they are a liability and hazard to the police force because they will "shoot and ask questions later". Canine training and learning to satisfactorially handle canine companions should be mandatory, and any officer that is fearful should NEVER be hired into such a position to begin with. There are many people interested in law enforcement, and careful consideration upon hire needs to be well thought out.REPORT COMMENTS
