All you have to do is google 'dogs shot by police', 'police kill dog', 'family dispute killing of dog by police', etc, and you will understand the need for this. There is an EPIDEMIC of police killings of our domestic pets. If you can stomach them, watch some of the videos, particularly the hunting and shooting of Rosie the Newfoundland, the dog shot by a cop who stopped to ask for directions, etc. Check you tube- you'll get an eyeful. It has to stop! Too many cops view dogs as potted plants or furniture: replaceable and having no value. Most of us, including many of you, view them as family.
