What is the rationale for this provision, anyways? Didn't we make full required payments in both systems? Please eliminate this discriminatory provision. -

In these difficult times, those who have served as civil servants should have this penalty to their income removed. It is fair and right to do so. To keep the penalty against them is unAmerican and unfair. Please vote to repeal the government pension offset provision.REPORT COMMENTS

Just apply the law fairly. We are only asking for what has been earned and paid for.REPORT COMMENTS

Public servants in state and federal retirement systems are being punished for their work after they have qualified for Social Security Retirement. The Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provision are totally unfair to these hard working patriots. Please press for a vote on these measures to correct this loss to your loyal voters. Ron H/ Lima, OhioREPORT COMMENTS

Jun 29th, 2009Someone from Natick, MA writes:
Many retired public school teachers like myself contributed to Social Security over the years in part time and summer employment with the expectation that their work would lead to a more comfortable retirement. Yet we will be unable to collect our hard-earned Social Security benefits upon reaching full retirement age or to collect a pension from our spouses' contributions. Although our pensions are generous at the beginning of retirement, they offer only very minimal protection against inflation. Due to this unfair offset provision, many of Massachusetts's dedicated teachers face later life in very difficult economic circumstances as inflation erodes the real value of their fixed incomes. In conclusion, I strongly support Bill H.R.235 to eliminate the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provisions that unfaily impact people who have dedicated their working lives to public service.REPORT COMMENTS
