Congressmen are not employees of the federal government. They are employees of the people of the United States. By what right, and with what public permission, do Congressmen feel they are entitled to these incredibly expensive and unwarranted benefit programs? They, like us, should fund their own 401k programs, contribute to, and expect retirement benefits from, Social Security, and have the same medical plan as other federal workers. Any company that allowed their employees to determine their own salaries and benefits would be bankrupt (oh, I guess we are, aren't we?), and these are some examples of the "entitlement" thinking that have devestated our economy.
