As the president stated, our country is war weary. However, I believe it is in our long term national interest to actively support the moderate opposition in Syria and work towards a negotiated end to the war even if it requires some military involvement. The United States cannot be a neutral party in this conflict. I personally welcome the current debate regarding our potential military involvement but I also believe president Obama is right to call for some form of limited military involvement against those deemed responsible for the use of chemical weapons. I urge my representatives in Congress to vote in favor of giving the president the option of limited military action in Syria.

We are two years and 100,000 deaths too late to the party. This country was ready to virtually discard the US Constitution in response to the murder of 3000 Americans on 9/11, but we seem unable to understand that another word for "Syrian" is human being. We like to say "never again"; let's live up to our stated morality.
