Don’t put into law something that a small minority feel. It’s also become fashionable to be ‘other’ than biologically male or female. People who cannot accept their given sex need help. There is something deeply disturbing with individuals who cannot accept their given sex. This is sad and need psychological help. To apply this disturbing mind set to millions of Americans isn’t justifiable. Let individuals struggle and fight their own mental battles. No one promised life would be easy. We must all work out our own issues not put into law for the rest of society to go along with our dillusional struggle. These people are deluded. It’s sad but again, should not impede the rest of society who have no problem accepting and defining their biological sex. Government needs to stay out of this issue. I find it all but incomprehensible that in a society like ours, in which science has become so predominant that God is no longer allowed in public schools and is being challenged at every level, the science of genetics can be so easily overruled by emotions. It is how one "feels" that we now argue establishes our gender. Nonsense!! The extreme has been tested and will be tested again: a gentleman claimed he didn't feel nearly as old as he was, and asked that his birthday be "corrected" to a year 20 years prior. The facts are that if you don’t encourage the gender confused children down the change pathway that 80-95% of them will come thru puberty and be comfortable with their biological sex afterwards. Perhaps even more- what would “on account of sex” mean in the 19th amendment if sex is legally meaningless? If the subjective, non-falsifiable and poorly defined “gender identity” replaces sex in federal law, Title IX won’t protect women’s and girls’ sports. That is only one example. And while we women are scrambling to defend ourselves as legally existing, the religious right is, as ever, working diligently to remove our bodily autonomy. Please, don’t jump on a bandwagon, please recognize what amounts to a cult when you see one. Men can’t be women. Women need our lawmakers to see this issue clearly. Please consider the 1st amendment Establishment Clause, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." 3rd circuit court says in Boyerton ruling: "A person’s gender identity is their subjective, deep-core sense of self as being a particular gender." Congress can make no laws regarding "subjective, deep-core sense of" ANYTHING. I have NO subjective deep-core sense of self as being female. I only OBSERVE the evidence at hand: My physical body, what health care professionals say, etc. Gender is merely sex-based stereotypes and expectations. You CANNOT force religious beliefs on others. Trans concepts parallel religious concepts. See SCOTUS reasoning around determination of conscientious objector status, and whether someone's belief system qualifies as a religion. One criteria: How much that belief system "parallels" religions that are universally recognized as such. Assertion that "transwomen are women" parallels Roman Catholic dogma that wine and bread become literal blood and body of Christ through Eucharist. "Deadnaming" parallels idea that one can be "born again" through declaration of faith in Jesus Christ; trans theory posits that one can be born again through self-ID and/or hormones and surgery. End result is 13-year-old having a double mastectomy, female high school athletes having to compete against male, female prisoners having male prisoners housed with them, etc. Please consult with lawyers about this! Many people do not realize the utter paucity of evidence for any sort of innate opposite sex gender identity, or for any biologic etiology of feelings or beliefs that one should have been born the opposite sex. Most physicians, psychologists and other professionals don't even know this. They have accepted the blithe, misleading assurances of activist researchers. It is difficult to overstate the horrible unintended consequences that would ensue if "gender identity" were to be included in the Equality Act. If any man can simply declare himself to be a "woman" - then what is a woman? Over 80% of children who claim a wish to be the opposite sex will desist on their own if given a little time. Most grow up to be gay men and lesbians, happy in their own skin. However, none who start on puberty blocking drugs ever desist. All continue through full surgical and hormonal "transsexualization" process. This is, in effect, a eugenics program to turn future gays and lesbians "straight," and sterilizing them too, for good measure. It is crucial that "gender identity" be removed from the Equality Act.
