Obama has decided to "allow sonar testing off the coasts of Virginia and Maryland to see how much oil and gas is out there? To get that data, companies will use sonar blasts that are a hundred times louder than jet engines. Even the Obama Administration scientists who approved the tests admit the sonar blasts will harm more than 100,000 creatures, like whales and sea turtles that are endangered." (quoted sections are from a story on WAMU 88.5 on 8/13) This should be part of the petition. -

This kind of testing is going to have a huge impact on our fishing industry. Why can't we find compromises that won't hurt our precious wildlife. They're a part of this world, too, and we can't survive without them.REPORT COMMENTS

To intentionally maim or kill marine life for the sole purpose of financial gain (oil) or for war games is beyond comprehension. It is malice. It is an injustice to innocent creatures. And this act of cruelty needs to cease.REPORT COMMENTS

Conducting this testing would be an absurd act in the process of continuing to seek antiquated and harmful sources of energy. Conducting this testing would be the first domino in a series of terrible nd shortsighted decisions, bad for our health, bad for our economy, and lethally harmful to the already compromised balance of our oceans.REPORT COMMENTS
