Experiencing some of these issues now. Im having a very high risk pregnancy , yet my husband and mother cant take time off work to help care for me and for our other little ones ages 2 and 3 who are home with me and my son who has special needs and is in kindergarten. So , even though Im having some serious complications I can't go to the hospital to be checked until work is done . And my mothers job is being not very understanding, and questioning why my husband cant just help out, even though he is taking off when I have our baby as I will need someone to care for me while I recover from my 5th csection, and my little ones will be cared for by my mother. And it is not paid leave , so then there is added stress about having enough money to pay the next months bills, which should not be a stessor when welcoming a new baby.Aug 8th, 2018Sade B. from Atlanta, GA writes:
Approaching my delivery date, I should not have anxiety about whether my baby and me will survive but I do because of the maternal mortality rate in this country. Please take action to decrease the maternal mortality rate. Bringing our children in the world not be a worry of death, make a guarantee of life every time.REPORT COMMENTS

Please act. The fact that racism contributes to the deaths and near-death crises in our country is terrifying and largely preventable. Ignoring or delaying care of black women's symptoms is a disgrace. Please support H.R.1318 and S.1112!REPORT COMMENTS

We can do better in the United States. This is a travesty. The health and well being of mothers and the MotherBaby couple is the barometer for the health and well being of our nation. I urge you to take action on this public health crisis.REPORT COMMENTS

the US is one of only 8 or so countries where the maternal mortality rate is still rising! What a shameful situation in a country of such riches and advanced standards of living . We're in t he same sad category as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Belize, and South Sudan, Qatar and Uruguay ...whose rates are also still rising. The IUS rate has doubled since 1987...giving birth in the U.S. costs more than anywhere else in the world but that hasn’t meant better quality of care. We can and must fix this!REPORT COMMENTS

MMRC and Maternal Mortality is a growing issue in America. We have to reverse this trend through efforts to be better informed and more attention to the problem. We need to hold health practitioners and companies to higher standards and develop better data and practices. This legislation is a step in that direction.REPORT COMMENTS
