This "harmless disease" has destroyed my life. I rarely interact with ANYONE -including family, I stopped donating blood, and I am hopeless. I am certainly not alone in these feelings. I am ashamed to have to associate my name with the disease. It is difficult to find information about the disease in reliable books. Desperate to find hope, I've searched for likelihood of a cure. Ten years ago some researchers said "it won't be long, we just need funding". Isn't it time to offer that funding? All of the advances in technology and medicine, and we still refuse to cure the virus that devastates so many, kills newborns, and leads to more severe inflictions. If HSV is a precursor to other diseases, it would be proactive to cure it, as the health care spending deficit will decrease.REPORT COMMENTS

maybe in testing the less virulent diseases for vaccines with more aggressive means we can come closer to understanding and stopping the more virulent ones such as aids. Polio died, measles died... what's next? how do we get ether?REPORT COMMENTS

Studying multiple injections of vaccinia in herpes infected individual is probably the cure and would be much cheaper way and more natural way to find the cure.REPORT COMMENTS

Increasing funding to speed up the process of finding a cure will not only free up funding for other issues, but generate billions of dollars that can also be used to fund other issues. Herpes viruses are so common now that it only makes logical sense to get it out of the way. More lives can be restored and saved much faster with all the generated funds. We need to spend smarter.REPORT COMMENTS

This virus is a gateway for other serious medical conditions. Our tax dollars are being spent of Alzheimer's (deadly disease), and HIV (very serious illness. Well, people if you have HSV1 and the genetic factor for Alzheimer's you are 15xs more likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's in your later years of life. Let's not ignore this anymore. A cure is possible with modern medicine and together a cure will come about.REPORT COMMENTS

Please fund this horrible virus that many are inflicted by. If it was you or your loved one you would want a cure as well. Antivirals are becoming useless. The virus is becoming resistant and is contiuously being spread to others. Not only because people are being irresponsible but instead because so many people have the virus and simply don't know they are spreading it. Let's support a CURE.REPORT COMMENTS
