I have dealt with this terrible disease for years. My girl friend of the time never told me that she had the disease. Because of her selfishness and my mistake for dating her, I have to endure the unendurable. Many people have similar stories, please increase the funding and finally find a cure.REPORT COMMENTS

Dear Sir or Madam, I am a 49 year old woman. 4 years ago, without any warning, the man I was dating infected me with Herpes. I have not dated since. It is the most traumatic event of my life because it never goes away. I quietly suffer as those around me are confounded as to why I chose to not seek a partner. However, I would never do harm to what others have done to me. For the first 3 years, I lived in pain every day, as the medication did not help me build the immunity to make pain go away. Look around the room you are in right now...I would bet 4 out of the 10 people near you are suffering in silence. Maybe you are too? Thank youREPORT COMMENTS

Dear Sir or Madam, I am a 56 year old with HSV-2, diagnosed in 2007. Both types of this disease can be painful, embarressing, and does destroy relationships. The drugs are costly and take a long time to work. Please get a bill through for more research. The Univ. of Florida is the only college I know that has shown an interest in HSV I & II research. Sincerely, Rebecca RREPORT COMMENTS

Herpes antibody testing should at least be offered to patients requesting a routine STD screening. 81% of people with hsv-2 are asymptomatic and undiagnosed. The fact that herpes antibody testing is not being offered to this 81% is perpetuating this problem.REPORT COMMENTS

Doctors have the capabilty to see what type of herpes lesion is present through a SWAB TEST. Therefore, it doesn't seem far fetched to work on a HOME SWAB TEST that could detect the presence of the virus with, or without a lesion present. It makes sense that the first order of the day is to STOP TRANSMISSION!!! Then worry about a CURE! If people could get get a HOME TEST, they could then be responsible by knowing if there is a virus present. Supposedly, 80 percent of people who have herpes, don't know it, because of ASYMPTOMATIC! How are they supposed to make responsible decisions without knowing? Also if 80 PERCENT of people don't know they have herpes, how do the people that come up with this STAT know that they don't know??? This is CRAZY! STOP TRANSMISSION through asymptomic shedding and by developing a home swab test that can detect the virus with or without lesions present...PLEASE! Thank you for going to college and getting educated! It's a TON of WORK! And thank you for your efforts!REPORT COMMENTS
