After 27 years of marriage I was diagnosed with HSV2 during an outbreak. It has been devastating. To show how this disease is overlooked, two doctors failed to diagnose during two separate outbreaks. It took a proactive dermatologist to get a biopsy for the pathology lab. It's been 3 days but the pain mental, physical and emotionally is overwhelming. If they can spend millions studying the drinking habits of whores in China and gays in Brazil they can fund a disease that affects 1 in 6 with 766,000 new outbreaks a year. -

This disease has totally crippled me. Stayed w an alcoholic way too long, hindered career advancement etc. I have to take anxiety & depression meds now. My life revolves around this virus. Got it as a teen somehow wasn't even sexually active. It's now 15 years later and the second one outbreak heals another one begins. The nerve pain radiates thru my body making it difficult to sit or stand. The hellish tingling keeps me awake at night. Antivirals do absolutely nothing. I've totally altered diet & lifestyle still nothing. I'm also in debt because I put at very minimum 3 grand a year towards alternative treatments. I am not the exception, there are millions of people suffering in silence because of the stigma this disease has. I'm afraid to have children terrified also passing it to a partner. It's very isolating & causes deep loneliness and despair. PLEASE HELP US. FIND A CURE!!!REPORT COMMENTS

The emotional and social consequences are very real as well.
