The cherry has falling off my cigarette more than I can count since the change. It has burned holes in my jeans, jackets and shirts. It has also burned my skin. It is hard to notice or detect where the cherry may have fallen when clothing is folded when I catch this happening and then try to save my clothing/skin. It has also dropped out several times while driving causing burns and damage to my vehicle as well as forcing me to pull over to the side of the road quickly to avoid further damage. One time a fallen cherry burned through an outdoor chair cushion and started a small fire. It is my right as an American Citizen to choose to smoke. I smoked for a long time before the paper change and never had a cherry fall out creating a dangerous incident, burn or fire hazard. Most smokers are responsible and dispose of their cigarette butts safely. I have watched these 'falling cherries' burn for a long time. I can easily imagine one getting blown off and going out the window causing a forest fire. Especially in these very dry periods the Nation is experiencing. Please revert all cigarette paper to the prior formula. Thank you.Nov 28th, 2012Someone from Ridgecrest, CA writes:
I know smoking is bad for you and I keep trying to quit and will continue to do so. However, I don't know what has been put in the Cigarettes to make them safer but I have found that they are not safe at all. I have never had burn holes in my clothes or furniture until they came out with the FSC Cigarettes. I smoke outside thank goodness. Just now the cherry fell off my Cigarette. The wind is blowing right now and I cannot find it. I hope it went out but I'm afraid it is going to catch something on fire. The cherries literally fall right out of the Cigarettes. These are more unsafe now then they have ever been and I have burned myself on the falling out cherry on numerous occassions and I have never done that before.REPORT COMMENTS

After smoking these FSC cigarettes for the past 4 years, I've developed chronic bronchitis, a severe cough with excessive mucous, asthma, and allergy symptoms such as hives. I have also had an sinus, throat and ear infection for 15 months now that hasn't cleared up, even after 5 courses of antibiotics. My ENT doctor was absolutely dumbfounded until I spoke to an allergist. I have just been diagnosed with a leaky heart valve and after much research, the doctor suspects that this was caused by the flame retardant in the FSC cigarettes. I smoked for 20 years with no ill effects, except a mild, morning "smokers cough", until the state governments mandated cigarettes be sold with this additive included. Through an allergist, it has been determined that the rest of my symptoms are due to an allergy to this chemical. I'm not a supporter of frivolous lawsuits, but considering the damage to my heart that occurred primarily because my state government did not bother to inform the public about this change in the law, nor did they inform the public about the health risks, I feel that they are liable for my current condition. They didn't even bother to request that any studies be done on this additive to determine the health risks before passing this bill. This is an indicator of gross negligence and irresponsibility on the part of my state government. Politically speaking, whatever happened to my freedom to choose what I put in my body? This is also a violation of my rights and the rights of all people, smokers and non-smokers alike. If we allow this to be done to certain groups of people, what's to stop our governmental bodies from imposing these kinds of restrictions and regulations in other areas of choice, i.e. food, clothing, housing, sports activities, career choices, etc.?REPORT COMMENTS

Not only do the new FSC cigarettes make my throat burn, lungs hurt, and cause headaches, since I have been smoking them, the cherry (lit end) just falls off without notice. In the last year or so, I have burned myself many times, burned holes in my carpet, my upholstery, in my home and car, burned holes in several shirts, pants, that never happened with the old cigarettes, and almost wrecked my car trying to put out a fire that started in my car's carpet while driving. I have read many articles that state that you actually inhale more harsh chemicals with the new ones and I know that you have to take more puffs and inhale harder to keep the new ones lit than I did with the old ones. These new FSC cigarettes are lot more dangerous both to your health and for burning holes in property and starting fires than the old ones ever were. I have smoked for 25 years and never burned myself, my clothes, my car, or my carpet and upholstery until I had to start smoking these new FSC cigarettes. Someone needs to look into this now, or I fear the health and fire risks are going to be much greater than before. I am hoping you'll take quick action, PLEASE before its too late. Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

I will be blunt and kindly censor my derogatory remarks. But you are f*cking idiots for putting a chemical that is used as CARPET GLUE in cigarettes... Guess what? I have no health insurance as most people dont. And I ave had bronchtis NUMEROUS times since its beeen released, and pneumonia once. If I continue to get bronchitis because of this, your nationwide unpaid hospital bills is going to be higher, because i will NOT pay them because your trying to kill me. Sorry for your luck.REPORT COMMENTS

How is it possible that our government would ever have considered mandating anything that could poison 10% of the adult population? I don't know, but they did it. Now I am sick all the time.REPORT COMMENTS

Hey! We all know there are chemicals in them that keep them burning. Why not Take Them Out! DUH! Cigarettes should be 100%natural tobacco and natural flavors and should contain minimal paper for a smooth and tastey smoke. In addition, cigarettes that taste good shouldn't be banned either. like Cloves! All cigarettes contain FLAVORS. Marlboro has licorice and cocoa as flavors as defined in the FDA's flavored tobacco act. Please, if you signed this petition help fellow smokers out and sign the petition to repeal the FSPTC act (flavored cigarettes ban). It is available on petition2congress.com as well. Thanks everyone for signing this and other petitions that help bring back our rights, and help keep Americans FREE!REPORT COMMENTS

Fire Safety Compliant cigarette laws were passed using deception and lack of testing. They are more of a fire hazard if anything, and give people constant headaches, sinusitis, body pains, and other health ailments. when i started smoking these cigarettes in 2011, many times i have felt like I have wanted to pass out, had bouts of confusion, among other things. I have smoked since 1993 and NEVER felt like this until the intro of these poisonous cigarettes. Smoking is definitely not a good habit, but by adding EVA to cigarette papers is going WAY TOO FAR!! WHAT IF IT WAS YOUR CHILDREN THAT STARTED SMOKING!REPORT COMMENTS
