I was given this virus from someone that knew they had it (they were raped) and I trusted...I didn't even have a choice and it severely impacts the relationships in my life. Someone was accurate when they said how the fear of infecting another person--especially the ones we love--or being rejected by a potential partner because of it weighs on those infected. Those who are not infected by HSV1 or 2 have absolutely no idea the social stigma we face. The fear of infecting another innocent human. The fear of being rejected by a potential partner. The physical pain caused by outbreaks and the deep depression many of us face. It's almost as if I would rather be diagnosed with cancer because I know I couldn't infect another person and I wouldn't be rejected by society. This virus has been linked to many serious medical problems and current anti-virals could never take away our physical and psychological pain. Please, let us live our lives again as happy healthy individuals. This virus shouldn't impede our future, but the truth is, it has. This virus doesn't discriminate and it's unfortunate millions are infected with no symptoms but this only leads to further transmission.REPORT COMMENTS
