I adopted my daughters from Russia nearly 13 years ago and underwent similar distress as the adoption process and laws were a moving target. The children have already been through significant trauma from losing their birth family. To see their new parents or even learn of them, but not be able to be united with them is cruel. Children do not understand the labyrinthine laws surrounding adoption. I'm not sure I do either. The fact that there are families who wish to parent orphans is incredible and we as a nation should support them.

Edi Hilling (my sister) and Hayden Hilling (my brother in-law) are very disappointed at the US, who are not allowing their dream to come true and bring back their adopted child. How could the US reject the permission from a family to take home the child that hey desperately love and when everyone knows America is #1 throughout the world that helps a lot of people? I think the action that the US has done with this dilemma is making America look bad and is starting to receive a bad reputation. So, please make this dream come true for me sister, her husband, and their daughter Lillian. She would love to have a brother in the house. America, how would you feel if you had a kid that was legal, and you had to leave your child in a foreign country? That wouldn't be fair to you, would it? The US ruined this family's persuit of happiness. So please America.. let this child come home. Invite this child into this country.

Restricting or hindering adoptions already started is incredibly hard on the families involved. Please do what you can to help these families who are waiting to bring their children home.

As an adoptive parent myself, I know how painful it is to wait for your adoption to come through while your child is getting older with each passing day. Please help!

These are real families and children, not just names on paper, that are caught in the middle of U.S. policy.
