It just makes sense, a major cost saver. If you cared as much about the planet as you say you do, then it's a pretty obvious choice. The environment shouldn't be harmed for out own benefit. -

People shouldn't be forced to use plastic bags if they don't want to. Anytime I buy alcohol, I am forced to carry it outside in a bag, which I immediately put in the recycling bin outside the store entrance. Why is this a law? I'm just going to put it right in my car 20 feet away anyways. If alcohol is that taboo that we have to hide it in a bag, then why do we advertise for it everywhere? Stop the unnecessary waste!REPORT COMMENTS

It is evident that society can not continue in a sustainable manner using the current philosophy of consume, consume, consume. I am intending and praying for a new paradigm to include resource-based economies, natural products to replace all synthetic materials, and an attitude of compassion and kindness to sweep across the planet in its entirety. One look at the plastic garbage mess swirling in the Pacific Ocean should be enough to wake everyone up to this menace to the planet. Unfortunately the greedy Big Oil industries profiting from cheap non-biodegradable plastics could care less, and since they're allowed to buy all the congressional votes they need to continue polluting the planet at will, there's little hope they will ever change their practices without being forced by law to do so.REPORT COMMENTS

Hemp is the way to go stubborn government. You can make thousands and thousands of products that biodegrade and help the environment. In fact the U.S. made a video about it in world war II called "Hemp for victory!". I think you should rethink your step congressman and listen to the people.REPORT COMMENTS
