There has got to be something done to bring back the proxy marriage in Texas in the TDCJ facilities, it's just not fair to the inmates and the loved ones they want to marry all because of fraudulent paper work of all the dishonest people out there that are just looking for a life insurance policies,... Some of these poor inmates don't even know that they just got married!! Now I ask you Mr. President and all of the congressmen that these request are being sent to, what happens to the dishonest people that have made these illegal marriages to the unsuspecting inmates? It is my opinion they should sitting in prison themselves, with a severe conviction and not just a little slap on the back of the hand, most of these sort of fraudulent goings on are about 99% due to life insurance fraud which is highly punishable in its self, it's ashame that the poor loved ones of these men and women that are incarcerated that just want to make a fresh start with the person they love while trying to turn their lives around and make a better life for themselves have to be the ones to suffer for it.. They are already suffering just from having to be incarcerated, they are there to pay their dues to society,... And yet they are the very ones getting done wrong in more ways than one! Marriage is one of the constitutional rights of an inmate and now they have been wronged and the price they are paying is that they have had A constitutional right stripped away from them!! Is this fair? I think not!... BRING BACK PROXY MARRIAGES AT ONCE!!! In other words,... GIVE THE INMATE BACK HIS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT AS HE IS ALREADY INCARCERATED PAYING HIS DUES TO SOCIETY, AT LEAST ONE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT SHOULD NOT BE STRIPPED OF HIM AND THAT IS THE RIGHT TO MARRY, SHOULD HE CHOOSE TO DO SO.... My boyfriend and myself would like to get married and since he had a set back at his first parole board meeting he'll have to stay a few more years until he comes up again... However we missed out on the proxy marriage arrangement, now leaving us with no way to even be able to have contact visits...REPORT COMMENTS

Please allow these marriages. Instead of making the sincere ones suffer, find a way to verify the people who are wanting to do it, to weed out anyone with other motivesREPORT COMMENTS

When they have rights taken away it impacts all of their family and loved ones. I want to marry the man I have a child with and have been with for 10 years. He made a dumb mistake and I'm more then a girlfriend or a friend, I am his best friend and allowing that marriage will give our daughter and us some normality in the stressful situation that we are already being thrown into. He made a bad choice, a law shouldn't prohibit for him having some hope that is family is being treated better than a visitors list. If inmates have any want for true rehabilitation don't take away a good family foundation.REPORT COMMENTS

I have to wait till my fiancée comes home for us to be married and I think its so unfair to me and him. I LOVE YOU CHRISTOPHER JACKSON !!!! Texas get it together nobody else is denying the proxy marriage so why are you????REPORT COMMENTS

Texas inmates should be allowed to marry . By them denying inmates that right , they're taking away something stable and good in their lives . It's like Texas enjoys punishing inmates . They've already been sentenced why do they want to add to that .REPORT COMMENTS

This takes away my right to legally be with the man I love. He is in TDCJ and this law is a violation of his rights. We were scheduled to become husband and wife before he went in and now we can not get married on our scheduled date because of this. This law should never have been passed. I knew nothing about proxy weddings until I looked into getting one after he went so we could be married on our scheduled date. Now I find that we are not able to. Our system is so unjust.REPORT COMMENTS

If they knew each other, dated and/or lived together before incarceration, then I agree that they should be able to get married. However, not just to gain legal status and I have mixed feelings if the LO is on death row or serving life.REPORT COMMENTS
