I commend this resolution not not referring to the civilian Libyans who are defending themselves and their families as "Rebels", "Soldiers" or "Fighters". This is an extremely important and urgent distinction. They are defenders, know more aggressiveness than the U.S. Coast Guard is compared to the Army. As would be expected, almost all of these defenders are simply regular citizens with no prior or future planned involvement with fighting others. They are simply accountants, bakers, car repair technicians, bankers, musicians, barbers, taxi drivers..corporate executives, secretaries, students, teachers, chefs, furniture makers, tailors..etc. etc. With small exception, none of these defenders have military training. Moreover, they are fighting-off attacks. They aren't organized as formal units, and they aren't specifically attacking civilian populations. They had no aspirations to take-up arms against the regime before they were attacked by them with inhuman brutality. When the Qaddafi regime is finally removed, and its supporters accept the new Libya, almost every one of these defenders will pick-up their normal peaceful lives. They will return to their jobs, and enjoy freedom. When the terms "Rebels", "Soldiers" and "Fighters" are applied in the media to these defenders, it does these civilians a huge disservice. It makes an artificial distinction between those civilians who are being killed randomly, and those civilians who are being targeted by the Regime for defending their people, property and communities. Some of these civilians protect and disseminate information through social networking tools. Some protect their people by taking them to safety at the borders of Egypt or Tunisia. Some drive ambulances or participate in neighborhood watches. And some civilians try to stop the attacker, whether they are exposed soldiers or civilian mercenaries or tank crews. The regime's soldiers are attacking civilians with the goal of premeditated murder, torture and utter destruction. The defenders are not soldiers, rebels, militants, terrorists, "rats" or criminals--they are just citizens. To label the civilian defenders with any words suggesting they are full-fledged militarized fighters, is to deny them fuller protection from the Coalition partners. During the coarse of ongoing defense of people and cities, these these civilian defenders sometimes leave their cities and go to where the enemy is. This enables them to prevent the enemy from being in a position to attack their own cities or do further damage to other civilians. When a defender leaves their city to help protect civilians--theirs or others--it does not automatically make *them* any less civilian. It is no different than a person protecting his or her home and family from a criminal coming through their bedroom window. Doing so doesn't automatically turn them into a "soldier" or "Fighter". Therefore, when these civilians--many of whom are helping to defend t

Thank you USA for your courage supporting oppressed people around the world. I was born in a Romania, a county strongly oppressed by Ceausescu's communist regime, one of the Qadhaffi's friends. Thanks to "Voice of America", a radio who helped us by telling the truth to our people. We strongly hoped the day when USA would free our country, by ending the Ceausescu's and Russian's communist regime! The Arab people would be eternally grateful to you! We all believe in the universal values defended by your country. You're not alone!

Qadhaffi represents no one except himself. He has set the Libyan people back 40 years, and as nothing more than a streetgang leader has no clain to represent Libya. Only a government that allows freedom of expression, freedom from repression, equal representation in government and the right to make a living even if you?re not related to Qadhaffi can be considered legitimate.

Please, end this now. Be done with it, either assassinate him yourselves or give us the mean to do it by giving us arms that can rival the Gaddafi-forces who show us and our families no mercy of any kind. Help us properly, don't promise us so much to let us down, that's just cruel. I have not heard of my family in Zawia for almost a month now, I can't sleep or eat anymore I think I might die myself here from worry. Enough! Be done with Gaddafi, obviously no one wants him, what's the hesitation about?
