Support House Resolution 188 to assist in ending Qadhaffi regime in Libya
Supporting Libyan People in Uprising Against Qadhaffi regime
In support of the citizens of Libya currently under siege by Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi and his forces, we the undersigned, urge you to adopt House Resolution 188 of the 112th Session of Congress. Moreover, in response to the current debate and discussion in the wake of this crisis we would like to declare the following points.
o We support the Libyan people's uprising against the tyrannical rule of Mu'ammar al-Qadhaffi who has oppressed the people of Libya and squandered their wealth while also showing himself to be a threat to the United States and international security. The moral clarity and bold leadership the United States and its allies have undertaken in response to the rapidly escalating crisis in Libya underscores their undeniable commitment to the preservation of human rights, liberty and self-determination.
o The Mu'ammar al-Qadhaffi regime, including, but not limited to the al-Qadhaffi family, specifically his son, Saif al-Islam al-Qadhaffi, no longer has any legitimacy in governing Libya. We recognize that the sole legal representative of the Libyan people and nation is the Transitional National Council headed by Mustafa Abdul Jalil. We agree that the objective of this new government is the liberation of all of Libya from the control of Moammer Gaddafi and his supporters and the transition to a free and democratic state.
o We fully support President Barack Obama's goal to protect the Libyan people in their struggle for freedom and urge the United States and its allies to provide additional support in the form of communications for the opposition forces as well as jamming Qadhaffi troops communications and State television broadcasts. Additionally, we call on the United States and its allies to provide the Libyan freedom fighters with arms, supplies, and tactical support needed to oust the Qadhaffi regime from power and liberate the entire country.
Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude and support for the intervention of the International Community led by the United States, France and Great Britain in conjunction with the United Nations and the Arab League for working to end the suffering of the Libyan people.
We, the undersigned declare that the above mentioned points accurately and clearly convey our position on the ongoing situation in Libya. We actively seek the continued strong support of the United States and its coalition partners in achieving these objectives until Libya is free of the tyranny.
