I am thankful that my brother in law works for a company that gave him all the time he needed when my sister died almost 5 years ago! -

As it stands right now, this policy is an absolute travesty - "get over it and move on" is not an acceptable response to a situation like this - there is no getting over it, and moving on can only happen if a person who suffers such a loss is allowed to grieve without judgement...please, please, please make amendments for this lack of compassion - what if it happened to you?REPORT COMMENTS

I, too, am a young widow. I had to give up my job when my husband became ill, because I worked for a place that was too small to offer FMLA. I was finally able to pull myself together enough (somehow) to get through the interview process and get a new job 4 months after his death, and was so overwhelmed on the job after the first day, I had to take what would've been my second day off. Luckily, my new boss was somewhat understanding. I am now two years out, and still have to take "mental health" days every few months. PLEASE make this happen for future widows. The last thing they should be worrying about 3 days after losing their spouse is going back to work.REPORT COMMENTS

There must be ample time to grieve, or the griever will never work through it. 3 months, much less 3 days, is not enough.REPORT COMMENTS
