I hate the idea of killing any horses but if it has to be done it's better done where we can control how it's done. That way we can make sure each horse is humanely put down. It's better to have horse slaughter rather than horses starving to death by people. The meat could also be used to feed the hungry. Before WWII people could buy horsemeat to feed their families. It was nutritous and cheap.REPORT COMMENTS

Eliminating "regulated and humane" slaughter of horses in the U.S.has caused irrepreable damage to the well-being of the horse and the horse industry at all levels. Soon the economy of the industry will fail except for the extremely small circle of the very wealthy. The horse will suffer most of all as it is at the bottom of the rung on the ladder of consideration under the duress caused by the current non-slaughter policy established by a small but well meaning minority. The attempt to assure a better resting place for the horse has completely backfired and is resulting in a diametrically and drastically opposite effect for the horse. Common sense must prevail and re-establish slaughter plants in the U.S. or utter disaster will befall the horse and the entire horse economy as well. Whoa to those with good intentions but foolish impressions who would allow such a travisty to occur! Time is of the essense and more horses are suffering every minute and will suffer a great and horribly atrocious death much worse than any humane and well regulated final disposition at a U.S. slaughter facility when left with no options but abanded abuse under current policy!REPORT COMMENTS

The welfare of the horse has been completely ignored by the "do-gooders" that ignore the fact there are worse things for an animal than humane slaughter.REPORT COMMENTS

This is a much kinder way of taking care of unwanted horses then starving them to death or letting them winter kill.REPORT COMMENTS
