I am a retired pharmacist on Medicare with Part D Medicare Prescription coverage. I am Type 2 diabetic on insulin.I am insulin resistant. My part D premiums increase every year by at least 10%.I reach the doughnut hole after 2 to 4 months and am in that phase for 2 to 3 mon.,then I am eligible for catastrophic coverage, but with insulin prices so high, I'm still paying a significant amount every month for two different insulins. These insulins have been around for a long time, but are still classified as Tier 3 drugs. Medicare needs to start negotiating with drug companies for lower prices, just like the VA does. I don't buy the drug companies argument that they spend huge amounts on research, when a lot of research money comes from government grants. They probably spend more on advertising. For example, why would a drug company need to advertise for EPI-pens, a medication that's been available for years! The drug companies need to be reined in or people will not take needed drugs and become very I'll or in the worst case-die.REPORT COMMENTS
