Gastroparesis has dramatically changed my way of living. It's not just fun dinner dates and summer parties I'm missing out on here. I miss eating food, being a part of my family events, taking walks in the fresh air, carrying my own laundry basket, taking extra long showers, and most of all WORKING. I miss being able to provide for myself. I miss being independent. I would have never guessed something like this would have happened to me. I went to college to become a teacher and change the lives of many children and ended up doing the exact opposite! I started seeing a nutritionist to teach me how to survive on little and no food! It's a scary thing to have to go through, but the FACT is, we need help! We need awareness and recognition for this horrible disease.

Gastroparesis is do under rated. If we have teachers day, nurses day, grandparents day and black month, don't you think you could give us August. Simple. We all have Gastroparesis or gastrointestinal problems. It hurts, 90% can't work. Please have a heart.

My 12 year old son has been diagnosed with Gastroparesis, and in fact full digestive tract paralysis, since he was 6 months old. We have no idea of the cause and can only speculate. He's allergic to two of the most popular Meds for treating symptoms so he's left mostly untreated except for use of a feeding tube into his small intestine and highly specialized medical feeding formula. Doctors don't know what else to do for him. This disease needs more awareness, research and hopefully very very soon a cure.
