Please work to safe guard food in the food chain and prevent horse slaughter and / or horse transport for slaughter in foreign countries. We can probably thank NAFTA for that loophole.Sep 3rd, 2016Someone from Lee, NH writes:

The SAFE Act needs to be passed ASAP! This is beyond insanely ridiculous. Our horses are not to to be shippedover the borders to endure horrific deaths!!! Most of these horses have been given meds that should not even be consumed by humans!! Please vote for it to pass?? Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

The betrayal by Man to horses after all they have done for us is barbaric and horrifically cruel. These majestic creatures deserve our respect. Breeders, The Racing industry and American Quarter Horse assoc needs to take responsibility to protect horses and new rules need to be implemented to stop this machine of churning out foals to find one perfect one while literally dumping the others. Slaughter will never be humane. It is horrific and vile and no horse should suffer this brutality.REPORT COMMENTS

This bill needs to be passed, no horses should be slaughtered in our country and, no horses should be sent from our country to be slaughtered elsewhere. Quit (BLM) rounding up of our wild horses and burros in the western states and penning them up, separating wild horse families and wild burro families, with the goal of sending them to their deaths by slaughter. Enough is enough, stop this, please. This so unnecessary.REPORT COMMENTS

It's about time we stop shipping horses from the USA to the slaughter pipeline, north to Canada and south to Mexico. A large amount of these horses have had some sort of medication These horses are not for consumption, further they are domesticated animals and should NEVER be slaughtered.REPORT COMMENTS

All this horse killing is very upsetting to me. This mage stick creatures are men best friend. God didn't create horses to become meals on some table. They were born to be free and loved by us, not to be abused and slaughtered. Don't they have enough with all that other animals they slaughter daily? Shame on them!!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Horses have traditionally either been free roaming or domestic pets in our culture and based on our historical relationship, we owe them so much gratitude. To see them treated so poorly is heartbreaking.REPORT COMMENTS

1. just watch a video or two, or listen to testimony by slaughter horse dealers or transporters and this issue becomes a no-brainer; the treatment is heinous and cruel to both horse and human. Being a cog in the wheel of a cycle of inhumanity and cruelty is inarguably destructive personally as well as to society and global well being 2. over-breeding by industries such as horse racing contributes to the problem of excess horses sent to slaughter, we as a civilized society bear responsibility to protect and care for these animals, not cruelly ship, slaughter and eat them. The concern for drug laden meat is real. the breeders need to take responsibility financially and logistically. 3. large captures of mustangs penned in captivity is a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. Of those that are not immediately adopted for training and re-purposing as domestic prospects, DNA TEST and re-release: criteria to include those with Spanish lineage, good conformation and color.REPORT COMMENTS
