Regardless of how you feel about horses, their meat is toxic and is not for human consumption! And who gave the cattlemen the right to steal public land for their own personal use? Horses do not reproduce as quickly as stated; 50% of their foals die the first year! And they are hunted by predators! The range is their home! Those in captivity need to be returned now! Horse slaughter is a predatory industry and the only way to stop all the violations in shipping horses to slaughter, at feedlots, at auction houses and at slaughterhouses is to ban horse slaughter once and for all. It is beyond time to have America's horses live safe, without the fear of the horrendous truck rides over the borders to be slaughtered. This is an issue not only concerning the inhumane treatment of horses who travel the slaughter pipeline, but also the danger of their tainted meat being consumed and the threat of it entering the American food chain. The amount of drugs given to a horse in their lifetime is well-known by the "horse world". Many, if not ALL, of these drugs are clearly marked "not for use in food animals". Breeders and backyard breeders need to be held accountable for the sheer number of horses facing the untimely and gruesome death of 10's of thousands of horses and other equines each year.
