I wish there had been discussion about this after Vietnam. But not, we know it is a true psychological disorder and our troops need proper care and help. Maybe they all should go through testing for PTSD before going home. It does destroy lives and families. Let's stop it prior to such destruction. We owe that to our military. They are keeping the rest of us safely at home; and most of our troops are very young men and women, with the rest of their lives in front of them. Let's give them all the care they need immediately upon return from war and not wait for suicides and divorces.REPORT COMMENTS

PTSD is far more debilitating than anyone can imagine. Families also suffer as a result of living with a loved one with ptsd.REPORT COMMENTS

I bought a little 2nd hand table from Craigslist a couple of months ago for the townhouse. When I went to pick it up, there sat this frail little old man in his plastic chair waiting in front of the garage. When I saw a Korean poster on his garage wall, I asked if he had been in the war. For the next hour I listened to his sad and chilling story. He showed me pics. The spitting image of young Jack Lalaine. He was an elite special forces team leader. Said when he got out he asked his C.O. what he was supposed to do. His C.O. said, "join the mafia". He spent the rest of his life in the mines, as a plumbers helper and odd jobs, supporting a wife and 5 kids, fighting the VA all the way, for help with his mind and his painful crippled knees (from frostbite). Finally got surgery when he was 59. He's 82 now. Responsible for 168 kills, 6, hand to hand (slit their throats). Says one guy fought back- stabbed him in the stomach-was gushing blood-wrapped a rock in his hanky, stuffed it in the hole in his belly and walked miles for help. He leads a tortured life. Constant. He has to sleep in a separate room from his wife so he won't kill her in his nightmares. She locks him in. He sleeps 4 hours, goes to church every morning and then he says, sits in his chair, waiting for death.REPORT COMMENTS
