It is a disgrace how the DOD treats soldiers and their families. Since 1973 this has been a VOLUNTEER MILITARY! Treat them with respect!Jun 3rd, 2014Someone from Riverview, FL signed.

Grief is one of the least acknowledged and least addressed concerns in our society ... Bereaved Military Children and Families have often been the forgotten Casualties of War. Lives of these Survivors are forever changed and few seem to understand this unique type of traumatic grief. Limited research suggests that by providing Bereaved Military Families with answers to questions, relating to the death of their loved-ones, the possibility of normal grief and closure is higher. Failure of the Military in providing these answers in a transparent unbiased forum, is a contributing factor in the countless numbers of Bereaved Military Families suffering complicated grief, substance abuse, incidents of child maltreatment/neglect and, in some cases, suicide. As a Nation, we have a duty to care for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. It is time for Americans to stop talking about how they care and start acting. The Bill of Rights for Bereaved Military Families would mandate every Family receives Answers. Do your part this Memorial Day ... Please sign and share.REPORT COMMENTS

This must stop. The people of this country must hold the military to a much higher standard when it comes to issues of deception of the fallen we must be better than this.REPORT COMMENTS

As in any suicide the big question is WHY? But, when you are told that your son committed suicide and you finally get the police report and the autopsy report and there are so many discrepancies, now not only do you have the big question of WHY? you also have the other big question Was my son killed? No parent should have to go through the 1st question let alone add a 2nd. These questions go through my mind on a daily basis.REPORT COMMENTS

It absolutely SICKENS me that the military feels entitled to keep secrets from the grieving! There should be severe, severe, consequences for those lying to the survivors of fallen soldiers! I hope and pray for justice for those who lost their life while in the military. Openness and Transparency can be the only way forward!REPORT COMMENTS

I just saw a Facebook post regarding Lavena Johnson, a soldier that was killed in Iraq and ruled a suicide. Evidence indicates a likely rape and murder. Why is this case considered closed?REPORT COMMENTS
