Violent Offenders 85% to 75% release retroactive
release good behavior and trade class 100 hour prelease taken
Louisiana is a mandate state of 85% for violent offenders. The law should be change to 75% for violent charge offenders. The offenders should have good time and good behavior while in prison and pre release class should have been taken. All violent charge offenders that is given a lengthy sentence don't deserve to be away from there family for that long. Some charges such as Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery without a fireman, charges first offense don't deserve to be put away for 85% when they are max out on good time, has done all classes they can take, they are on good behavior, they are doing everything by the rules, but they are over look for parole or work release to better themselves and get ready for society. Other charges that should be included are Lifetimers should be given a commuted sentence. A fix term of years.
This law will be great for the budget of Louisiana and to reduce Recidivism. The violent charge offenders must complete the 100 hour prelease class, taken classes and a trade, also be in an organize group at the facility they are house and upon release they get a job to provide for themselves and they kids if any.
