Victim Identification Protection

Protect the victims of sexual harassment from the media

My name is Kimberly Stratton, I am a recent reporter of sexual harassment in the workplace. Not only was I humiliated by my supervisor, I was then further humiliated by the media. The victim of sexual harassment is not protected by any guidelines from public ridicule. In my circumstance, my supervisor sent nude photos to me & this information with my name was printed in the paper. I am still currently employed at the company, and have to endure whispers and exclusion from my co-workers. Had my name not been allowed to be published, I could walk confidently in my community and my job knowing that I did the right thing by reporting the harassment. Public humiliation by the media only deters victims to report. This only hurts the victim and empowers the aggressor. We cannot stand by and allow women to be humiliated any further. Sexual harassment must stop, however, until victims feel safe from media humiliation, it will go unreported. Please understand the importance of this matter. If my story can help other victims, then my humiliation will have at least served a purpose.

Thank you,

Kimberly Stratton
