THE UNITED STATES MUST ADDRESS THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ISSUE

Tell your elected officials this problem has been ignored long enough and must be resolved!

The American people are tired of waiting for the government to address the illegal immigrant problem in the U.S.. It has been ignored for many years, and must be addressed without further delay.

President Obama promised to deal with this problem when he ran for office, but failed to take action. As a result, individual states have felt it necessary to adopt their own immigration laws. A federal mandate must be adopted in the U.S. to resolve the illegal immigrant situation across the nation. It is long overdue.

It is an outrage that, while we are required to abide by the laws of this country, millions of illegal immigrants live here in violation of our immigration and employment laws, but nothing is done about it. This is unacceptable. It is time the United States updated the immigration laws and enforced them, holding anyone who is not a legal citizen living in this country to abide by them, or be held accountable for their actions and face deportation.

Here are suggestions for proposed changes to our immigration laws . Many countries have similiar laws, including Mexico. If our U.S. immigration laws became more stringent, making it difficult to live in the U.S. illegally, it would decrease the number of individuals who cross our borders, as it would be less desirable to them.

1. A date, or deadline, must be made, whereby, all illegal immigrants would be required to register with Homeland Security, or the Department of Immigration; to complete documentation for legal status. Failure to file documentation by the deadline would result in immediate deportation.

2. Background checks would be conducted by the Immigration Bureau, of each applicant. Anyone with a criminal history would not be approved for legal status, and would be deported.

3. It must be a mandatory requirement that all illegal immigrants learn to read, write and speak the English language, as a prerequisite to becoming a legally documented citizen.

4. Illlegal immigrants would be required to purchase and obtain health insurance. They would no longer be allowed to abuse the health care system, and receive free medical care in hospital emergency rooms, that are passed on to the American people through increased costs of medical procedures and the rising cost of health insurance.

5. Illegal immigrants would not be eligible to receive federally or state funded assistance, paid for by the taxpayer, including welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing, or SSI. They would also not be eligible to receive discounted or free tuition.

6. Interpreter services would be obtained, paid for, and be the sole responsibility of, illegal immigrants who do not speak the English language. Federal and state governments would not fund interpreter services, bi-lingual documents or signs, with taxpayers money.

7. "Anchor babies", or children born to illegal immigrants in the United States, would not allow illegal immigrants to obtain federally or state subsidized benefits, or would not grant them automatic legal status to stay in the United States. They would still be required to complete documentation with the Immigration Bureau, or Homeland Security, to become legally documented citizens, that would also include a criminal background check.

8. Companies that hire illegal immigrants would be heavily fined or penalized, and subject to imprisonment.

As an American citizen, I am required to abide by the laws of this country, and illegal immigrants should not be allowed to disrespect our Homeland Security and immigration laws, or pick and chose what laws they want to follow. It is an outrage.

You were elected by the people of this country, to represent them, and to uphold the laws of this country. I am putting you on notice and DEMAND that you enforce the immigration laws in the United States, and modify the existing laws, to address the above mentioned issues. If you fail to do so, I will make my voice heard when I cast my vote against you in all future elections. I am disgusted that our elected officials have allowed the illegal immigrant problem in the U.S. to be swept under the carpet for many years, so we now have millions of illegal citizens are living here against the laws of this country, and who continue to cross our borders. Address this problem immediately, without further delay!
