The Banning of Kratom Nationwide
To my representatives in Congress, Senate and the White House,
It is of growing concern both here in my home state of New Jersey as well as nationwide, the sales of a supposed "herbal supplement" called Kratom. Speaking from first hand experience as well as witnessing it in my community, this "supplement" is nothing more than "gas-station heroin". I myself just completed a 7 day medical detox from this "supplement" which up-ended my life and that of my loved ones. It is highly PHYSICALLY addicting not to mention mentally. It is marketed as 'safe' and you are not required to show ID for it (or, they just don't ask). It has claimed at least one life here in Toms River, Ocean County, NJ. The staff at a detox center here said they are seeing mass cases of addiction and the withdrawal symptoms are exactly the same as other opiates/opioids. Because of its ease of obtainability , this WILL BE the next epidemic to replace the opioid crisis. I am asking for the immediate removal of this drug from the market, if not nationwide, than at least here in NJ. I also plan on contacting Representatives Andy Kim, Cory Booker and Chris Smith to ask their help.
