Tell Congress to Take Action To Save Addicted Newborns
Hold doctors accountable for the suffering of newborns addicted to opiates.
Unfortunately, the war against addiction is not only an issue plaguing the people who already walk the Earth. It is the harsh reality of newborns born addicted to heroin and other opiates. Many of these children die, and are eight times more likely to succumb to addiction themselves. In many instances the doctors and hospital staff delivering these babies do not inform social services of the status of the child, or mother. Although it is protocol to inform social services of narcotics present in blood work and the status of the mother?s addiction, many of these children go unreported and forgotten, leaving them in a dangerous and volatile environment scattered with addiction and in many cases; death.
