Support The Resolutions Calling For Democratic Change in Syria.
The resolutions will provide much needed humanitarian aid and support for the Syrian people.
Dear Representative,
As you are probably aware, the people of Syria are currently facing extreme violence and deep injustice at the hands of their government, led by Bashar Al-Assad. More than 8000 have been killed in the last 11 months & 22,000 are now refugees and an estimate of 20,000 are detained. The situation continues to worsen as time goes by and as the UN and world leaders discuss the best route to take with regards to ending this horror.
Two resolutions have been introduced in Congress that have yet to be presented for Congressional vote - H.Res. 549 and S.Res. 370 - and call upon Bashar Al-Assad to step down from power, condemn the continuing human rights violations caused daily by this regime, urge the 'Friends of Syria' contact group to assist in providing a humanitarian corridor to protect civilians and provide much needed supplies to besieged areas, among other points.
The resolution is an important step to the fall of the Assad regime. We come to you as your constituents and people of conscience, asking you to stand behind this resolution and give it your full support. The Syrian people need you, and these resolutions, we believe, are key first steps to bringing an end to the continued injustice, as well as providing stability for the region.
It is our hope that you will stand by our side and endorse these resolutions, so that change can come before more lives are lost unnecessarily in Syria.
