Support the HELP \"Innovation Package\" to advance cancer treatments
Critical changes to the drug approval process will speed advances in cancer treatment
Right now, it can take nine years or longer for new cancer treatments to get to market. Cancer patients simply don?t have that kind of time.
You can help change this. The US Senate is considering an ?innovation package? of reforms that would modernize the drug approval process and help get treatments to patients faster. The reforms in these four bills (S2700, S185, S2713, S2745) have bipartisan support and would make critical changes in the drug approval process that would
? revise clinical trials to make drug approvals faster and safer;
? allow more access to experimental treatments;
? require the FDA to listen to patients regarding the risks and benefits of drugs.
This package of legislation is critical to patients with Waldenstrom?s macroglobulinemia (a very rare blood cancer), as well as to patients with other rare diseases. I ask for your support in cosponsoring the HELP Innovation bill package and helping it to pass in the Senate. We patients and caregivers need your help to modernize cancer treatments and make sure all patients have the treatment they need to get healthy.
