Dear Mr. President:
On April 14, 2010, the Honorable Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will be attending the Nuclear Security Summit. On behalf of all concerned citizens of the world, we respectfully urge you and the United States Congress to help condemn ongoing human rights abuses in Vietnam.
We, the undersigned, support the passage of H. RES. 506, introduced by Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren. The resolution expresses the need to remove permanent normal trade relations status with Vietnam unless all political and religious prisoners are released and significant human rights reforms are immediately enacted by the Government of Vietnam. It is co-sponsored by nine Members of Congress - Representatives Robert B. Aderholt, Dan Burton, Tom Davis, Trent Franks, Al Green, Michael R. MacNulty, Loretta Sanchez, Christopher H. Smith and Frank R. Wolf.
Additionally, we respectfully request that you urge the Honorable Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Vietnamese government to release all non-violent political and religious prisoners immediately and unconditionally.
We thank you and your administration for your needed intervention.
Very truly yours,
