Stop Sending American Citizens and Their Families to Juarez

Stop the MADNESS! Juarez is unsafe. Tell Congress to change the immigration interview location.

Dear Madam/Sir,

Current immigration law requires that illegal immigrants, who file for status change, return to their country of origin with a bar of 3 to 10 years. The current designated United States consulate for Mexico is Juarez.

Juarez, Mexico, has recently been rated as one of the most dangerous cities in the world and has recently made headlines when employees of the consulate and their families became targets. http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2010/0315/Mexico-killings-spotlight-Juarez-as-Mexico-s-worst-drug-war-city

The Department of State has issued warnings about traveling to parts of northern Mexico and especially Juarez yet of the 13 United States consulates in Mexico the consulate in Juarez is the chosen consulate to process all immigration interviews and approve visas for immigrants applying for status change.

Everyday, American citizens and their families are sent by the United States government into a city that has seen 18,000 murders in the last 3 years and has the highest murder per capita rate in the world to process immigration applications.

This procedure is highly irresponsible and needs immediate attention. Changing the location that visas are processed would not require law to be changed. The Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, decides the location/s and could easily right this wrong.

As representatives of the citizens that are petitioning for their family members you not only have a responsibility but also a moral obligation to them.
