Stop The Prison Population Explosion 65 % for all Prisoners not just non-violent
Please stop the prison population explosion. The maximum sentence guidelines are too harsh and too broad for crimes that have such extreme disparities.
A person that commits 3 robberies in three days or rapes a child on a school bus receives less time in prison than a person that is in a spontaneous bar fight that results in battery and a felony. The convicted robber and the convicted rapist are entitled to time reduction but not the battery conviction. How unfair is that? Each case must be looked at individually, as well as the life style of the person being charged.
The prosecutors charge people with much higher crimes than they have committed and are only looking for a conviction to promote their own agenda and career. This must STOP.
