Honorable President Obama: I know you receive millions of messages but I hope you will read this one. I am writing to you today about the situation in Syria, the land of my forefathers. As you are well aware, the Assad regime is engaged in a brutal crackdown on pro-democracy advocates. I have also heard and read your statements on the situation there and I agree with everything you have said. However, I feel you have not gone far enough. We are fighting a war (through NATO)in Libya based on the assumption that Ghadaffi was going to go house to house, door to door, room to room, and kill people. Well, Assad is already doing that in Syria and more people have died in the last 7 weeks than those that died in the Egypt uprisings. I don't understand the reluctancy to call a spade a spade. Assad is NOT a reformer; he is a killer like his father. It's time we put an end to this madness, you need to tell him "it?s time to GO;? just like you did with Mubarak and Ghaddafi. He is just like them and probably even worse. I know Syria doesn't have oil, and doesn't have a peace agreement with Israel, but the people of Syria are a great people who love American ideals. I have never been to Syria and I wish, that with your leadership, Syria can one day be free, and I can visit my grandfather's grave and read him a prayer. I wish to meet all my cousins that I have never seen. I wish to go to my grandfather?s olive garden, and run my fingers through its dirt. I wish to see the Citadel of Aleppo that holds great history in its stones. I wish to shop the Hamadiya bazaar in Damascus. I wish to hear the water wheels of Hama that fed water to inhabitants of thousands of years. And finally, I wish to visit the city of Daraa to find out what they eat that makes them the bravest, most courageous, people on earth! Will you help my wishes come true? Thank you dearly, Ammar

Dear Mr. President, Dear President Obama, Re: Requesting an urgent visit Congratulations Mr. President. Congratulations to us; the American people. Justice has prevailed. Now, we are more certain, than forever, that everyone who exercises injustice, oppression, and/or terrorism will face one day disgrace and justice. I emailed you, back in April, requesting an urgent visit to address the up-scaling violence committed by the Syrian Government against its own peaceful people. Mr. President?I truly appreciate if you could kindly find just ½ hour of your time to meet with a regular citizen, like myself. I wish I was an important political figure or a well-known journalist. But, I am just a regular citizen, who has been struggling for all her life to practice what she believes in; justice, love, and peace for all. I help the sick and the poor, and try my best to reinforce these principles and values through my actions and behavior; at work or home; with friends or neighbors. I hope you will support and fulfill my request, as I have always supported you. Injustice, terror, and massacres are increasingly growing in Syria. Per Amnesty International and Other World Human Rights organizations are estimating that at least 11,000 people, including children and women, are detained; that over 1000 people, including young boys and girls, have been killed, with no mercy, since the peaceful upraise in Syria that started in March 2011. Now army, including tanks and heavy automated artilleries, are deployed around and bombing many cities in the Country. Expanding its massacres from Daraa and Banyass, which have been under complete siege for about 10 weeks with no water, electricity, food, or medical help, to Jabla, Latikia, Dare Al-zor, Mu-addamya, parts of Homs, and now to Hama, and to many more small towns and cities across the Country. This regime is capable of committing a great massacre again in Syria. As you know, they have done that before in Hama in 1982, in which over 35,000 people, including children and women, have been brutally killed; per recent statistics of the World Human Rights organizations (I wasn?t even aware of such a number). This excludes those who have been aggressively detained for many years or never came back, including boys and girls that grew up in prisons. NO one stood up for them, then. They are now heading towards committing another great massacre against the Syrian people. They have been in power, oppressing and terrorizing its people, for 40 years, and it looks like, they won?t give up that power easily. The government has been isolating the seized cities and towns from other people around and from the world. They have kicked out journalists, shut down internet lines, phones, and cell phones towers, to isolate those people. So, they could do whatever they want to do and the world cannot see them. Now, barely, we could know what?s really going on in those cities, and sadly, even the people close to them do

Has the US gone back to backing dictatorships just because it is easier for the US? If we accuse Libya government of killing its people we must accuse the Syrian government of the same. And the Syrian people do not have weapons they are only using peaceful demonstrations. The US must stop being such a hypocrit about supporting Freedom.
